A 9-photo collage is almost always square. Three columns by three rows means the cleanest result is square. For Instagram, 1080x1080 is the right size - each cell is 360x360. For an 8x8 print, use 2400x2400 at 300 DPI. For a wall poster, 4000x4000 fits a 12x12 frame.
