Before, After, Together: The Two-Photo Pair

Most collage tools treat two photos as a cropped grid. Pi7 is tuned for the pair: matching the two photos visually, and giving you the small controls that make a before/after or couple shot actually work.

Pair-Aware Layouts
  • Side by Side for comparisons and couples
  • Top and Bottom for Stories and portrait pairs
  • Big + Small when one photo leads the story
  • Diagonal Split for a cleaner editorial pair
Match the Two Photos
  • Apply the same filter to both in one click
  • Independent brightness, contrast, saturation
  • Crop each photo without touching the other
  • Drag-swap the pair if the order reads wrong
Sized for the Pair
  • 1080x1080 square for Instagram feed posts
  • 1080x1920 vertical for Stories and WhatsApp status
  • 1200x1800 at 300 DPI for 4x6 prints
  • Custom canvas with lock-aspect to hold both photos

Four Pair Layouts: Side, Stack, Big+Small, Diagonal

Four layouts for 2 photos in one frame. Each option opens directly in the editor with two empty panels, ready for your pictures.

From Two Photos to One Frame in Under a Minute

The whole pair-building flow: pick the shape, match the two photos, and export for where you're posting it.

Pick the shape of the pair

Horizontal for comparisons and couples, vertical for Stories, asymmetric when one photo leads, diagonal for an editorial look.

Drop in both photos, match their look

Place each photo, crop independently, then apply one filter to both (Warm, Cool, B&W, or Sepia) so the pair reads as one moment.

Export for the channel

Square 1080x1080 for Instagram, 1080x1920 for a Story or WhatsApp status, or 4x6 at 300 DPI for print. PNG keeps transparency, JPEG keeps file size small.

Pi7 vs the Side-by-Side Apps

Pi7 compared to the typical ways people try to put two photos next to each other. Have more than two? The 3 photo collage maker covers triptychs and trios; the 4 photos in one frame tool handles 2x2 grids and magazine spreads.

vs. A Phone Screenshot
Screenshotting two images side by side leaves ragged crop lines and messy spacing. Pi7 snaps both photos into a clean, proportional frame with adjustable spacing and a real border.
vs. A Before/After Slider App
Slider apps only work where sliders are supported (a handful of websites). Pi7 produces a single image you can post anywhere - Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, email, print, SMS.
vs. Professional Image Editors
Building a two-photo frame in a professional editor means layer masks, smart objects, and careful alignment. Pi7 gives you four ready two-photo layouts with zero setup; the alignment is already correct.
vs. Your Phone's Built-in Collage
Built-in phone collage features usually give you one grid and no controls. Pi7 offers four dedicated two-photo layouts, per-photo filters, independent cropping, and 4K export.
vs. Two Separate Posts
Posting two photos back-to-back on a feed makes people swipe past the second one. One 2-photo frame stops the scroll and shows both halves of the story at the same time.

Match the Two Photos: Same Filter, Same Crop, Same Mood

A two-photo frame fails the second the pair looks mismatched - one photo warm, the other cold; one crisp, the other soft; one tightly cropped, the other loose. The fix is to treat the pair as one composition, not two photos in two cells. Pi7's pair tool ships three small controls that do exactly that: one-click filter-to-both for instant tonal match, a "copy crop" button that mirrors the crop frame from one photo to the other, and shared brightness/contrast sliders that move both sides at once.

The rule of thumb: if you can tell which photo was taken first, the pair is mismatched. Match the white balance, match the crop, match the mood, and the viewer reads it as a single image instead of two photos forced together.

Built Browser-Side - Your Pair Stays on Your Device

Privacy is not an afterthought here - the whole tool is engineered around it. The two photos in a before/after, couple shot, or comparison frame are usually personal: a fitness journey, a wedding day pair, a renovation reveal. We do not think those should pass through a third party's server just so you can pair them together. So they do not.

Most online two-photo tools work by uploading both images to a server, processing them in the cloud, then handing back the finished frame. Pi7 does the opposite. Each photo you drop in is read locally by JavaScript and rendered to a canvas inside your own browser. The pixels never travel - not to us, not to a CDN, not to a third-party processor.

No Account, No Upload, No Watermark

No signup, no email, no account creation, no waiting on an upload bar. Open the tab, build the pair, export the image, close the tab - and the session is gone. There is no copy of either photo on a server somewhere being indexed, sold to model training, or sitting in an archived backup.

The practical knock-on benefits: it is fast (no upload time even for two 50 MB photos), it works offline once the page is loaded, there is no rate limit because there is no shared backend to throttle, and no watermark on the export because there is no premium tier to upsell into.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this good for before-and-after photos?

Yes, the Side by Side layout is the standard pick for before/after. Apply the same filter to both photos in one click so the lighting matches, and use Cover fit mode if the two shots have slightly different aspect ratios.

Can I align two photos that are different sizes?

Yes. Each panel accepts any aspect ratio and has three fit modes: Cover (crops to fill), Contain (fits inside with padding), and Stretch (fills the panel exactly). Pi7 also lets you crop each photo independently if the framing needs to match more closely.

Will the final image fit Instagram's 1:1 square?

Yes. The 1080x1080 preset is one click. The two-photo layout stays centered and proportional inside the square, with adjustable spacing between the pair. For Stories and WhatsApp status, use the 1080x1920 vertical preset instead.

Can I add a divider, border, or gap between the two?

Yes. The spacing slider goes from 0 to 60 pixels, and you can change the background color (solid, gradient, or pattern) which shows through the gap. Thin borders with rounded corners and adjustable border color are available per layout.

Are my photos uploaded to Pi7's servers?

No. Pi7 runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your two photos never leave your device, and we have no server logging, no copy of the image, and no EXIF metadata. Close the tab and the session is gone.
